8-8-88 Burma Protests and Bike for Burma Report

A Burmese monk unveils the glass memorial
Friday 8th August marked the 20th Anniversary of the 8-8-88 Burma democracy uprising in which at least 3,000 unarmed Burmese protesters were murdered by the Burmese junta. In London the Burmese unveiled a glass memorial at the peace park near the Imperial War museum, held a protest for political prisoners at the Burmese Embassy and in the evening had an exhibition on Burmese political prisoners at the School of Oriental and African Studies. The following day the new generation of Burmese students and exiled activists held a Bike for Burma event around London to remember 8-8-88 and ask people not to forget Burma. Read more >>

Post Climate Camp Legal Call Out

The climate camp was in many respects a remarkable watershed in the policing of mass public protest. Even under the spotlight of the mainstream media, police abuse of power was overt and unwavering. The unlawful indiscriminate searches along with seizure of personal property unrelated to any crime, actual or potential, should not go uncontested... Read more >>

Caesar’s-Messiah’s Vicar Calls for Peace (Again) in Georgia?

Caesar’s-Messiah’s Vicar Calls for Peace (Again) in Georgia?

Unfortunately, the Pope and his enormous empire is quite capable of suing the whole world. Through Opus Dei, he already owns most of the Supreme Courts and , in some countries, he even has a Special Place drafted into their Constitution. This was so for the Republic of Ireland and East Timor; and , if you looked closely enough at a couple of dozen other Catholic countries , you would find the same anti-secular bias, even when such countries brag about 'every citizen being equal before the law'. Catholicism makes tin-pot dictatorships out of the most well-meaning countries. One has only to mention Spain, Portugal and Austria to see what they did to these countries in the past, or to Spain, Italy or Germany before , during and after WW11. The personality of the Christian, when you have taken away the Janus-mask of White Pope (who does the PR from the Vatican) and the Black Pope , who does the biz abroad, is one of deception, forgery, incalculable violence and aggression ,not just to women and children in 'State-run Catholic schools', but in the broadest theaters of universal civil and international war.

Another Barclays Demo Day in London

What shall we do today? Barclays demos! We decided to meet at Goldman Sachs on Fleet Street today for a couple of Barclays demos, because the Goldman Sach's security guards are the tetchiest people in the world. They were scurrying around looking anxious that a demonstration might just kick off. We had no intention of demonstrating at Goldman Sachs today, but they are a scummy company and we like the idea of regularly meeting outside their office just to get their pulses racing. This day was, yet again, all about Barclays. Not only are Barclays the biggest shareholder in HLS with $8m of shares, but they are a huge investor in NYSE (HLS share traders) as well. Read more >>

REMEMBER EACH ELEVENTH . . . . progress, despite desperate "minderbinder" ploys!

The "remember each eleventh" campaign is based around the idea that the eleventh of the eleventh "poppy day" isnt enough, these days, as we seem not to "remember" so much that our repetitions of past tragedies is almost past farcical . . . . hence, 12 times a year, a week of action around the eleventh around the widest possible formal/informal coalition, on the lines of the passionate reasoning that put the circular "wreath" on a lasting memorial in whitehall ( a "traffic hazard", "sticking up like a sore thumb" as the blocking efforts of the bureacrats of the time had it ) - to represent those of all spiritual traditions, politics, etc - but also those without.
THIS IS A QUICK UPDATE - 14 aug 08 Read more >>
