Vanunu Freedom Ride in Sheffield on Saturday April 14th 2007

11-04-2007 15:05

Mordechai Vanunu
For telling the world that Israel had nuclear weapons, Mordechai Vanunu spent 18 years in prison, 11 of these in complete solitary confinement. Although released in 2004, he remains subject to stringent restrictions and is unable to leave East Jerusalem or communicate with journalists or foreigners.

The ride demands complete freedom for Vanunu, for his vision of a nuclear free Middle East to be fulfilled and for an end to nuclear weapons world wide. The Freedom ride also supports, as Vanunu does, freedom and justice for the Palestininian people.

 http://www.vanunufreedomride.org.uk/

Boycott days of action: We will be having a monthly event to promote the Boycott Israeli Goods campaign and opposition to the occupation. Next Boycott day, outside the Sheffield Town Hall: Saturday April 14th; 3.30 til 5pm To coincide with the Vanunu ride arrival between 4.30 and 5pm. Please come along and join our action and leafletting.

What do Einstein, Mahatma Ghandi, Ehud Olmert and, yes, me all have in common? We could each be censured for racism according to the European Union Monitoring Centre's 'working definition of anti-Semitism' which was last week adopted by the UK's National Union of Students as official policy.

Behind The Wall 16 hours for 30 minutes' contact

30-03-2007 17:25

This report comes from Occupied Palestine from someone whose identity I must protect. They wrote this article - I merely forward it. It tells of what an ordinary Palestinian mmother has to go through to visit a son in an israeli jail, and the chicanery and deliberate tactics used by the Israeli Army to ensure that visiting time is short indeed. Please post feedback if you wish to read further eyewitness reports on other aspects of life that the manistream media are simply not interested in. Thank you.

Introducing Palestine, Peace Not Apartheid

28-03-2007 07:30

I excitedly purchased the distinguished former American president Jimmy Carter's new book "Palestine, Peace Not Apartheid" and put it on my bookshelf to read the moment I got the chance. Alas, this book will now surely always sit there gathering dust and unread, because before I could get to it, I read the following account in the Israeli newspaper Haaretz about this book that greatly disturbed me. A new red herring has been cleverly introduced into the discourse space, albeit enlarging it somewhat, but not sufficiently for me to waste my time chasing down yet another distinguished red herring.

Eggs Fail To Recognize Omelette's Right To Exist

24-03-2007 14:25

This is how Israel screws the peace process every time. They insist that Israel be given everything it wants FIRST, then they'll talk about maybe sorta kinda someday giving something back in return, or at least talking about it.

The problem is that Israel has already been offered recognition of their right to exist. All they have to do is recognize Palestine's right to exist. And here we come back to the basic problem. Israel wants for itself that which it refuses to give to others.

Further complicating the problem is that Israel still refuses to draw their borders on a map. Palestine cannot agree to recognize Israel because they cannot know what they are recognizing. If Palestine were to agree to recognize Israel there is nothing to stop Israel from declaring that all of what is now the remains of Palestine is already part of Israel, then Israel would have what it wants, ALL the land, recognition, and no Palestine in existence.

Boycott of Palestinian Government Crumbles

Awareness, or at least acknowledgement is growing, that Israel's Zionist hardliners, and few others, truly object to any "peace process" which might threaten their power.
